FAQs
Q1: What are the limits of the project?
A1: Project limits are from Country Club Road at the south end to IL Route 120 at the north end.
Q2: Why is the study being undertaken on Fleming Road?
A2: The lack of defined ditches, poor drainage, pavement condition, and the age of the facility make it necessary to reconstruct the roadway. Maintenance of the roadway has demanded more resources over recent years and the existing pavement has reached the end of its useful life.
Q3: What is the McHenry County Division of Transportation’s goal for the project?
A3: The goal of the project is to develop a preferred plan which replaces deteriorated pavement, improves safety, limits disruption to property owners, and maintains the character of the corridor. This goal will be achieved by engaging with the project stakeholders who include residents, property owners, local officials, townships, police and fire departments throughout the project duration. Input from and discussions with project stakeholders will help shape the look of the project.
Q4: Will the County need to Purchase land from me for the Fleming Road Project?
A4: Since a full range of alternatives has not been identified or analyzed, land acquisition needs are unknown at this stage of the project.
Q5: What is a stakeholder?
A5: Stakeholders for a project include any person or organization which has a direct stake in the project being considered. Stakeholders can include residents, property owners, business owners, community and historic interests, elected officials, government agencies, police and fire departments.
Q6: How will the stakeholders stay involved in the project?
A6: We encourage the stakeholders to stay informed about the project through the project website, www.flemingroad.info. Stakeholders will be asked for suggestions, ideas, and concerns to help shape the look of the project. Newsletters are currently being sent to project stakeholders and to others who have expressed interest. If you would like to receive a newsletter, please let us know by submitting your request through the project website or contact Walter Dittrich at 815.334.4980.
Q7: How can I submit a comment or idea?
A7: The best way to submit a comment or idea is through this website www.flemingroad.info under the CONTACT link or contact:

Q8: How will the Fleming Road Project be funded?
A8: At this time, the project is anticipated to be funded with County funds.
Q9: What is the project schedule?
A9: The Fleming Road project has three phases – Study, Design, and Construction. The study phase is collecting data and preparing preliminary design alternatives. The design phase consists of the preparation of final design and construction bid documents, and the construction phase is the actual construction of the project. The study phase is anticipated to last through the end of the year 2010. When the study has been approved, design of the project would follow. Construction would begin in late 2011 or 2012 pending project readiness and funding availability.
