Project Introduction

Welcome to the Fleming Road Project Study Website!

The purpose of this website is provide the public a place to learn information about the project, get project updates and progress reports, and find out about scheduled public meetings. It also provides a place for the public to submit questions, comments, concerns, and input about the project.

What is the study about?

Fleming Road (County Highway V25) is a north-south rural collector that passes through the Village of Bull Valley and unincorporated McHenry County.  The roadway is under the jurisdiction of the McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT).  The project study limits extends from Country Club Road to Illinois Route 120, a total distance of approximately 2.5 miles.

Project Goal

The goal of the project is to develop a preferred plan for Fleming Road which replaces the deteriorated pavement, improves safety, maintains the character of the corridor, while minimizing the disturbance to adjacent property owners. This goal will be achieved by implementing a public outreach plan that will afford all project stakeholders an opportunity to provide input at key project milestones. Project stakeholders include residents, property owners, local officials, townships, and local police and fire departments. Stakeholder input is key to developing the best possible plan for Fleming Road.

Latest News

At the last CAG meeting, two different alternatives were presented to improve Fleming Road along with their respective impacts.    From the discussion at the CAG meeting, many of the comments centered on the need to develop another alternative which reflects some of the other ideas that were discussed to minimize impacts.  While the design team felt that the alternatives presented accomplished a balance between the concerns of the CAG and the needs of the project, the Division of Transportation believes that more work can be accomplished in meeting the CAG’s desires in reducing the impacts further.  The Division of Transportation will update and discuss with the Transportation Committee of the County Board our plans to have our consultant develop additional alternatives which will be brought forward for review and discussion at a subsequent CAG meeting before another public meeting is held.  These options would include understanding the impacts of keeping the road in its present footprint as well as a resurfacing alternative.

Thank you for your patience as we move forward on this important process.  We anticipate holding the next CAG meeting sometime in mid-June.  Materials will be made available for review at least one week in advance of the meeting.
